Plan to hire native English-speaking teachers in Thailand

The Office of Basic Education Commission (Obec) will seek a Bt350million budget to hire 300 native English-speaking teachers for its primary and secondary schools to tackle the shortage of English teachers, a senior official said yesterday.

According to the proposal, the native speakers would each get about Bt1 million per year - a salary of Bt83,000 per month - compared to the Bt9,000 per month drawn by Thais teaching English.

TEFL Phuket - Fees

The TESOL applicant has to pay a deposit amount of 500 USD for enrolling into the 3 weeks' TEFL course in Phuket. The final payment of 450 USD and the accommodation charge will have to be paid on arrival in Phuket before the course commencement date.

The deposit amount can be paid either by using credit or debit card by means of the payment link mentioned in the Acceptance Letter of the TESOL applicant. Wire transfer facility or Western Union Money Transfer can also be adopted by the interested candidate in order to pay the deposit amount. In case of the latter two options, the applicant must attach the scanned copy of the deposit payment receipt and email it back to the course coordinator in order to enable us confirm the payment within 3-4working days, maximum. A deposit confirmation email will be sent to the candidate acknowledging the receipt of the money and also reservation of seat for the candidate in the course in Phuket. All details related to pick-up, lodging, visa, etc will be informed to you after your place in the course is confirmed.
