Asian College of Teachers has selected the four most popular places in Thailand and undoubtedly some of the best holiday destinations of the world for holding the on-site TEFL course - Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket & Pattaya. In case you are not willing to take our accommodation or want to arrive prior to the course dates for touring the cities, here is a guide for you regarding staying in Thailand as per your convenience.
Bangkok is home to a wide range of hotels from the really shabby to truly world class. The Khao San Road is for backpackers while the rich and famous would surely agree to stay at THE PENINSULA or at THE ORIENTAL on Rattanakosin. On the other hand, Sukhumvit Road has hotels to suit every budget and need. But when you choose a place to stay in Bangkok make sure to choose a hotel near a metro station or a Sky train station. Boutique hotels have mushroomed in Sukhumvit Road which offers more personalized services.
Some of the well-known hotels are:
Chiang Mai is the largest city in the North Thailand region. It is roughly 700km north of Bangkok. The TEFL trainees would find the place very quiet and very clean with a wide range of hotels in the offing available at reasonable rates. The TEFL candidates can access the Internet Wi-Fi and a computer from the lobby in most of the hotels. You can find Chiang Mai hotels and resorts, in various price categories.
Phuket is one of the few islands which can boast of an abundance of sandy beaches and clear water. There is a wide variety of beach resorts available for the TEFL trainees at different beaches of Phuket. The accommodation cost in Phuket is a little high than what you can expect in any other cities of Thailand as Phuket is the most spectacular beach destination of the world and is a favourite tourist spot and hence the cost of living is expensive here. But whatever the cost be, Phuket offers an ambience and aura which are worth spending for.
Boasting an oasis of serenity, Pattaya offers the perfect atmosphere for your dream holiday and offers a wide range of resorts suitable for budget travelers, seeking a relaxing and peaceful holiday.
A wasted day is a day without learning. Never cease learning, light your own will to fire your passion in learning. Make learning your reason to wake up early in the morning. Each day is a brand-new start to learn again, and to do greater things. Never think that learning is boring, least interesting, and expensive. According to Benjamin Franklin, "An investment in knowledge pays the best interest".
This course gives me an opportunity to enhance my teaching ability. First, the materials and the lessons provided are very useful. The course provides teaching approaches and relevant techniques which I can apply to class. Second, my coordinator - Annie Joseph is extremely nice. I really appreciated her priceless comments and feedback. Lastly, the online platform really fits this time. During this pandemic, it's hard to go out and study in college so studying online is the best choice. I try to study anytime I'm free. The website and the system were really supportive in which I could access all sections easily.I would have been regretful if I hadn't applied for this course.
I struggled a bit to start with but that made me sit back and really think about how I answered the questions. Some parts of the course confused me but when I asked Annie she was able to explain it clearly for me, I also have some friends here in Chaiyaphum who are teaching English as a second language and they were very helpful in advising me about different scenarios they have experienced in the classroom. I would like to add that not a single teacher over here has done a tesol course so if I choose to teach in a classroom I don't think I will have any problems.
The TESOL English language certification course from the Asian College of Teachers was comprehensive and well structured. It has given me a very solid grounding in teaching English both online and at language schools. I am working as an online teacher with Amazing Talkers and have also applied to Wall Street English to teach in Bangkok where I live.
